Rise Against: Live (RA: part 2 out of 3)

Went to the the concert in Hampton Beach, NH on Saturday (Oct. 11th). Rise Against, Thrice, Alkaline Trio, and The Gaslight Anthem. Thrice was pretty good (downloadan) and Alkaline Trio was okay, Gaslight Anthem kind of sucked a little dick.

Rise Against killed it with a great setlist.

Drones
Ready to Fall
Chamber the Cartridge
Under the Knife
Behind Closed Doors
Survive
The Good Left Undone
Prayer of the Refugee
Give It All
State of the Union
Swing Life Away
Re-Education (Through Labor)
Collapse (Post-Amerika)
Hero of War
Broken English
Like the Angel

There was one song from The Unraveling that I can't remember the title because I can't tell 17 out of the 20 tracks on the CD apart from each other, seriously. I think they did 'Injection' and 'Bricks' but I think that was when I was too busy trying not to get raped in the ass or dropping 'bows on 12 year old girls running in between my legs to be actually listening to the band.

They only played 3 of their new songs, and sadly, Hero of War was one of them. You write an acoustic song about the war you'll have more bandwagon fans than last year's Boston Celtics and everyone that's ever known someone in the Army/Marines/Air Force/whatever will fucking fall in love with it
"Oh my god, this song is about me, I was one of the U.S. soldiers that killed innocents and beat and pissed on POWs"
Guess what, no, you're not. You're a fucking 15 year old kid and the closet you'll ever get to war is in COD:4, or you're a woman, and women can't serve in the army because they will bleed all over the place and complain too much. FUCK.

That was quite a rant right there. I'm not just picking on Hero of War because it's related to the war or the army, I could go off on fucking Swing Life Away or a variety of other songs or topics for that matter. I don't have any problem with people who have actually served in the army. They've experienced a lot more in my life than I probably ever will. And I love America

One of the best parts of the show aside from opening with Drones, Give it All and Ready to Fall (and closing with The Good Left Undone and Prayer of the Refugee) was in between songs. Tim McIlrath was like: "This is a song from our first album, how many of you have it?" There were a few people that cheered and I was off to the side going "FUCK YEAR UNRAVELING WOOOOOO" and then he said "Wow some of you are liars. I can tell"

I lol'd.

Zach Blair was fucking crazy. Jumpin around in his little outfits with his guitar, jumping around doing kicks and shit, shreddin' on top of speakers that aren't supposed to be shredded upon. (asian voice) OH ZACH BRAIR YOU SO FUNNY (asian voice)

That being said, there were alot of nubs and underage B&. A fuckton of slutty 14 year old girls, a couple of emo kids and loners, moshers wearing mouth guards, 12 year old kids crowd surfing and getting shitfaced in the back of the casino, crazy mountain folk, and parents of the above groups. The message I am trying to get across was that there was a lot of children and weird people there. People that have heard like 2 or 3 Rise Against songs and bought The Sufferer and the Witness and were like I FUCKING LOVE RISE AGAINST. LET'S GET MY DAD TO TAKE ME TO THE CONCERT. YEAH. And everyone dyes their hair black and piles in the minivan and rides to Hampton.

The majority of the people there reminded me that even though the way I came about Rise Against was pretty lame, at least I managed to work and be knowledgeable enough to not feel or look like a complete shithead, and have a better appreciation for the concert. Good job RG, you're fucking awesome and I find the stuff that you write to be somewhat stimulating or amusing. I write this because no one actually reads this, and goddamnit I guess I'll have to commend myself ;_;

I bought a $20 t-shirt and paid $8 for nachos and $5 for decent parking. With all this superfluous spending I should be able to single-handedly save the U.S economy.

Even with all that being said, I had a fucking amazing time when Rise Against was playing. I would've killed to hear them perform a few of my favorite (but lesser known) songs. I'll talk about that more in another post. But everything else more than made up for it. Would see them again.

Shit was so cash

I am sorry that this post didn't have pictures :(
