RG <3's 360 (Pt. 2)

Fuck year the Celtics just won again, their record for the 2008-2009 season is now 21-2. NEW RECORD.

Here's a continuation from the first post with just Dead Space, because I didn't feel like typing a shitload for 4 more games. So I left you with one, and the promise that there will be more eventually.

Dead Space
So when I first saw this commercial for this game, it sent me on a nostalgia trip to the Alien movies. The first 3, nothing after that, not even Alien Vs. Predator was good. Stop kidding yourself. And after reading mostly positive reviews. I bought for $30 on a Black Friday sale. I was expecting a combination of RE4 control + Alien atmosphere, and what I got was RE4 control + Alien atmosphere + Metroid Prime style and interface. The only difference is that you can move and shoot at the same time and you have melee attacks (fuck year, curb stomp). The big thing they're trying to push is that 'you're not using guns' because you're an engineer/techincian/cleaning bitch. If it shoots lasers and kills stuff, it's a gun, don't feed me that shit. Also, you have to cut off the limbs of the monsters (called Necromorphs in the game) to kill them, so aiming for the head and pulling the trigger until it stops moving doesn't work, unless you unload like 3 clips into one monster. And chances are that if you do that you're not going to have alot of ammo, because it is scarce.

The story is pretty simple. You play as Issac, he has a fucking awesome helmet. A big ship is sending out a distress signal, and you get a message from your GF who was on the ship, a crew of people go to fix it, the crew gets attacked by aliens, you get separated from your group at the very beginning, but you're playing as the mechanic so you have the go and fix the broken shit so the others can progress, and chances are that some fucking aliens are going to be hiding in the broken shit you're trying to fix. So off you go, fixing shit only to find out that there's more shit that needs to be fixed, and Necromorphs pop out at you when you least want them to.

So the missions or levels or chapters or whatever the fuck you want to call them consist of fixing something, collecting something to put in something, or find something. You get the Plasma Cutter, and you can pretty much play through the whole game with this weapon because it owns pretty hard (there's an achievement for doing so too). There are some other weapons, like a flamethrower, a machine that fires sawblades, and a pulse rifle, even though I'm not supposed to be using guns. But as of right now with only a Lv. 2 suit and a small inventory I can't be bothered to carry all this shit.

You have a power called 'stasis' which you can use to slow down fast moving objects (machinery, necromorphs) which is essential for missions and helpful when not trying to die. Eventually you venture out into zero-gravity areas, which is more of a pain in the ass than something new and exciting. One time I was in a zero gravity area I was trying to figure out where to jump to and I looked up and all I saw was a Necromorph slowly lunging at me as it drifted through space. I took a minute to laugh as it slowly floated towards me. Then I bitch-slapped it with the Plasma Cutter and yelled 'FUCK YOUR MOTHER' and blasted his fucking arms off. Then I suffocated because apparently you can run out of air. That will be the extent of your enjoyment whilst in a zero gravity area.

As an additional note, there are some pretty hilarious death scenes, if you find death to be hilarious. Decapitation, RIP AND TEAR-ing, and exploding all happen sometimes so quickly you don't even know what happened. One time I activated some sort of centrifuge or engine or turbine or something, and as I went to backtrack to the elevator I came down and the blade of the large machine came around and hit Issac and he pretty much exploded. Limbs were everywhere. Needless to say I lol'd. All in all, I would recommend this game if you found any of this to be interesting, if only for a rental, or if you got it for a bargain like I did.

P.S. why the fuck does EA charge money for DLC, like, new skins for the weapons and suits, and you want us to pay like $2 for each set? FUCK YOU

Where Am I?: I just finished Chapter 3. I have the Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rifle, Flamethrower and Ripper. I am having problems with my inventory because I'm carrying too much shit I guess?
